  • Old Holloway is a modest, affordable, high performing family home in rural Herefordshire, built to a strict passivhaus standard.
  • It was the first project in the UK to use the EcoCocon system.
  • Palette of materials included clay plaster inside, charred timber cladding and corrugated metal roof.
  • The project was a winner of Passivhaus Trust Awards 2018 in the Small Projects category.
  • 7 725 kg of CO2 sequestered.

  • Houses were developed in Collective Private Development (future neighbours develop their own housing project from bottom-up). Idea was to develop modern, 'Bauhaus"-style houses, with use of historical building materials.
  • Houses are zero-energy, all-electric and 'breathing'. Heating and hot water by electrical heat-pump. This and all other (electrical) household gear compensated by 25 solar panels.
