From field to city, kind and clear. This simple idea guided us through every panel we crafted and every partnership we grew in 2025. What starts as a humble stalk of straw becomes comfort, warmth, and a moment of calm in a busy world. And this year, that idea travelled further than ever before.
The video above captures some of the highlights. Behind each frame is a story of people, places, and buildings that are advancing natural construction.
Buildings That Pushed Boundaries
One of our most significant milestones this year was the Logistic Center West in Lelystad, a large-scale logistics development by Bestseller . This project proved that prefabricated straw panels can perform at an industrial scale, delivering speed, precision, and a dramatically lower carbon footprint. It has already become a reference point for what low-carbon logistics buildings can look like.
In southern Europe, EcoEspai showed another side of straw construction. Here, regenerative thinking met architectural expression, creating spaces that feel as good as they perform. The project demonstrated how natural materials can support both people and the planet without compromise.
Further north, our panels became part of the growing district of Hyllie in Sweden , an area known for climate ambition and forward-looking urban development. Once again, straw proved it belongs in modern cities, not as an exception, but as a natural choice.
Alongside these flagship projects, dozens of homes, schools, offices, and community buildings were completed across Europe. Each one added another layer to the growing map of straw-based construction.
Moments That Brought the Community Together
2025 was not only about what we built, but also about who we built it with.
At leading construction fairs across Europe, we met thousands of architects, developers, engineers, and builders. The conversations were honest, curious, and increasingly confident. Natural construction is no longer a niche topic. It is entering the mainstream.
One especially proud moment this year was when our Danish colleague Lars Keller received the Bygningskomponentprisen 2025 , together with Simon Ingvartsen from Henning Larsen . The award recognises their work in applying straw elements at scale, creating inspiration and real, lasting impact in the built environment. It is a powerful confirmation that bio-based components are no longer experimental, but ready to shape mainstream construction.
Another highlight was our internal Partner Meeting , where Technical Sales Consultants from across Europe came together under one roof. From strategy sessions to shared learning and a few well-earned laughs, it was a powerful reminder that EcoCocon is built on people just as much as panels.
Behind the scenes, our teams kept pushing forward. We strengthened certifications, deepened research partnerships, expanded training programmes, delivered webinars and case studies, and supported architects and builders throughout their projects. From factories to construction sites, from early sketches to finished buildings, the work never stopped.
A Big Thank You, From the Field to the City
None of this would have been possible without our employees, partners, certified designers and builders, clients, and everyone who believes that construction can be natural, scalable, and future-ready.
This year, we built more than walls. We built trust. We built momentum. We built a growing community that believes straw has a fundamental role in shaping the future of construction.
As our CEOs said at the end of the video:
“Thank you for being with us and supporting natural bio-based construction. We are grateful for having such an amazing community, and we are looking forward to the journey ahead of us.”
On behalf of all of us at EcoCocon, thank you for being part of this Strawsome year. We cannot wait to see what we will build together next.
